Wondering if equine-assisted therapy is right for you? Here are some answers to commonly asked questions about the horses, therapy, workshops, and more.

 
  • A: Yes. Many insurance companies and extended health benefits will cover the cost of psychotherapy services with a Registered Psychotherapist. Contact your insurance carrier to find out if you are eligible for coverage.

  • A: Please contact me for a complimentary 20-minute consultation to see if it’s a good fit for you. You can also learn more about the benefits of equine-facilitated therapy here.

  • A: Equine-Assisted Therapy, or EAT, is an excellent addition to talk therapy to help the inner work you may be doing. The horses can show you how to overcome obstacles related to substance abuse, addiction, behaviour and mood disorders, eating disorders, learning differences, ADD/ADHD, grief/loss, anxiety, OCD, life transitions, trauma, depression, and other conditions.

  • A: Yes, it’s a very safe environment with experienced horses. You have lots of time to get accustomed to the horse with my help, so no need to worry. You’d be surprised how fast some people adjust and overcome their fear!

  • A: Our barn is just north of Toronto in Caledon, Ontario. We’re just minutes from Woodbridge, Maple, Kleinburg, King City, and the surrounding GTA.

  • A: No, all the work is done on the ground.

  • A: Please wear closed-toe shoes or boots and dress for the weather in comfortable clothes – ones that you’re fine with getting a little dusty or dirty. Layers are best.

  • A: Bring a raincoat if it’s raining. If the weather is really bad, we’ll be in touch to adjust our plans.

  • A: There’s a 24-hour cancellation policy. For private therapy, please contact me. For workshops or events, please go through your email confirmation to cancel.

  • A: Workshops are held at our beautiful retreat centre in Caledon, Ontario, just north of Toronto. See our Workshops & Events page for more details. Follow us on Instagram to stay tuned for events.

  • A: We accept payments by E-transfer or cash for private sessions.

  • A: Yes! As a therapist, I am bound by confidentiality, which means I will not share the content of our discussions with anyone without your explicit written consent. Any exceptions to this will be discussed in our first session.

  • A: I’m trained in spiritual psychotherapy, life coaching, Reiki, reconnective healing, trauma and addiction, and more. I’m always upgrading my skills with new courses and workshops. You can read about my education and certifications here.
